Letter of Appreciation From a Dane Swan Poetry Workshop Participant By Sandra English It's difficult to condense my enjoyment of the Poetry Workshop presented by Dane Swan. I attended without expectation but hopeful and was rewarded with an incredibly positive experience. So nice to sit with other writers and be given guidance and inspiration from this talented wordsmith. Although Dane has received considerable acclaim and recognition for his writing and presentation skills he has a very unassuming presence that put everyone at ease. I am grateful to have had this opportunity, it was the creative kick-start I needed. Editor's Note: Sandra English is a local writer who participated in the TCA Writer's Group. We thank Sandra for allowing us to post her copy righted poem (below). In posting the poem we think of all those in our families who knit and the community knitters who sell their mittens, socks and sock dolls at the Taymouth Market. Fiber Therapy Over, under, over, under needles dance in wool. Over, under, over, under my plate is much too full. Clutter, clutter leaves in the gutter, click, click, flies in the butter, click, click, cow with full udder, click, click, I’ll slip away. Banish the clutter, Bring in the breeze! Lighten the corners, And dance if you please! All the while the wool comes together in cozy warm socks or mittens or sweater. Then my mind at ease I’ll trim the yarn and pick a new task in the house or barn, and on we go. ©Senglish 22/03/13 Thanks Edna D.
