TAY CAMP UPDATE – STILL TIME TO JOIN US ON AUGUST 11 By Kathleen LeBlanc Tay Day Camp has certainly been an adventure - From start to finish! We've all experienced days filled with laughter and activities, ranging from science experiments, to baking competitions, to visits from a horse! It seems the community spirit that emanates from the whole Taymouth area has been reignited in the young people, which always a good thing to see. It's not too late to join us! Seven of our eight days have already been enjoyed, however, Thursday will be just as exciting. Join us from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm for Day Camp, and then parents and children are invited to the TCC at 6:00 pm to showcase all that we have done together. Hope to see everyone there! For more information, contact Kathleen: [email protected] A big thank you to Pam Allen-LeBlanc and her husband, Pierre LeBlanc, for transporting Kathleen’s horse, Star, to the Taymouth Community Centre to meet 17 excited Tay Day Campers. For those interested in information on the riding lessons offered by Pam see the attached pdf. Photos attached. The chicken barbecue dinner was postponed until Sunday due to the weather. Sam and Charlene Johnston and Keith Munn serenaded us - it’s always nice to have some live music. Fresh veggies at market today at June and Stuart Douglass's table as well as Fred McLellan's. Yum! Sherman Stone had free range fresh eggs plus great home baked items from several vendors. Kenneth White won the $5.00 market voucher and his Mother Katherine Sullivan won the weekly raffle that was generously donated by Amy Estey. Next Market is August 20th 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. To reserve your table contact Rhona O’Hara 458-5370. Photos attached by Julie Glencross. Captions: Inside market; Ruth Doiron selling duck tickets. AUGUST 7 – FAMILY FUN DAY AND CHICKEN BBQ BLOG By Ruth Doiron The weather may have changed our plans a bit this weekend, but the Family Fun Day and Chicken BBQ was still a great time and a huge success! We didn't have a lot of kids join us for our games, but those that were there went home with lots of nice prizes from the fish pond and a couple of cakes from the cake walk! Landon DeLong won first place in the frog race, Abby Nash second and Alex Bishop-Nash got third. The BBQ chicken dinner was amazing! We had a variety of different potato and pasta salads, rolls and strawberry shortcake. Thank you to all who came to eat with us or for takeout. Thank you to ALL the kitchen helpers, and everyone who helped in any way to make the day run so smoothly - Amanda, Macey, Anne, Marie, Utah, Kali, Abby, Caroline and our summer student Kathleen! Thanks also to all who donated salads, cakes, etc. We couldn't do this without you! There was a pretty good crowd out last night to see the fireworks. They were fun and very exciting! My granddaughter told her mommy, "They were so loud!" Thanks to Melissa McKinnon and Sky Designs who give us a great show each year and a great deal!! ALERT: For all the duck racers, we will let you know when the postponed race will take place. First prize includes a night in Dooly's Molson Canadian room and four Wendy's combos, second prize is Cineplex for two and a snack plus dinner for two at Swiss Chalet, third prize $25 gift certificate to Studio 14 Hair Design plus tubing for two from Nashwaak Tubers and one movie rental, pop and chips from Nashwaak Convenience and fourth prize is a Taymouth market bag, five dollar market voucher and a movie rental, pop and chips from Nashwaak Convenience.
