2016 TAYMOUTH TIGERS BASEBALL UPCOMING FIELD BOOKINGS AT 6:30 PM:
Tuesday August 2 U-21 Playing Hoyt Wednesday August 3 U-17 Playing Fredericton Twins Thursday August 4 U-12 Playing Hoyt Hi-Socks Wednesday August 10 U-14 Playing Keswick Valley This season has been a very successful one for all of our tigers, and with games coming to a close, so will this blog. But not before one last look at the accomplishments the Tigers have made!
Earlier this month, the U14 Provincial Fastpitch Tournament was held at the Taymouth field. Five teams went in, and over the next two days, they were eliminated until two teams remained, who would then battle it out for the title of provincial champions. The Memramcook Dynamites faced off against the Taymouth Tigers in an exhilarating match in the finals, with the Tigers coming out on top and winning the tournament! Congrats to the U14s for bringing us our third provincial title this season. The tournament was lots of fun and had a wonderful, lively atmosphere about it. But that’s not all that has happened since my last post. The U18 Tigers represented New Brunswick in the U18 Boys Fastpitch Nationals tournament, as Team NB! The competition was tough, and the tigers came out with 1 win and 8 learning losses -- but most importantly is that they had fun and improved because of it! CBC News even did a segment on the tigers, featuring Troy and Cole Spillman, which you can read by clicking here. Awesome job to the U18s for how far they’ve made it, and good luck next year on maybe bringing that nationals trophy home! Finally, I want to let you all know that the U16 Tigers are having a bottle drive on Saturday morning, the 22nd of August. If you’ve got anything to donate, contact Mark Young in Taymouth at 238-0006 or Jennifer Hurley in Stanley at 367-2111 for pick ups! Thanks! So there you have it! The season comes to a close with the Taymouth Tigers winning four provincial titles and representing New Brunswick in the nationals! Pretty good, huh? Huge congratulations to all the tigers on each of our teams for their awesome games! And also, I’d like to extend a huge thank you to coaches Mark Young, Brett Young, Craig Clarkson, and Troy Spillman for being incredibly helpful to me and always keeping me up to date on the scores of the games! Thank you for reading! Cam On Wednesday, we had an excellent ball game go down right here in Taymouth. The U18 Tigers and their rivals, the Men’s Tigers, went head to head with a close back and forth. The Men’s came out on top of the 12 - 10 score. Both teams put up a great fight!
For the U18s, Cole Spillman tripled and Eric Young had 3 hits. No information is available at this time for the Men’s team. The next few games will be games you couldn’t possibly want to miss! First off, this weekend the Tigers will be hosting a tournament in our own backyard! 5 teams will be battling it out all day Saturday and Sunday for the champion title! The first game starts at 9am on Saturday, at the same time as the Taymouth Market! With the Market, Taymouth Fun Day and ball tournament all going on tomorrow, there’s no better place to spend your Saturday than at the Taymouth Community Center! The last ballgame on saturday is at 5pm, followed by another series of games Sunday -- with the championship game scheduled for 3:00 PM on Sunday. I hope to see you all out there! In fredericton next week, the U18 Tigers will be facing off in nationals! The best U18 teams in the country will all be down at prospect street, with our very own tigers among them. More info hopefully will come, but regardless, good luck Tigers! The U10 Tigers have been busy playing some games and having a great time doing it, and I’m here to give you all the updates on how they’re doing! So lets get to it.
The tigers faced off against the Fredericton U10 girls, and ended the game with a win for Taymouth, 25 - 19. Spencer Clarkson led the offence with 2 home runs, a double and two singles! Paige Price and Tatum Pond each contributed 6 hits, and Nate St Pierre had 5. Wow! After that they went up against the Fredericton U10 boys. It was close, but Fredericton pulled ahead and won the game 14-9. Clarkson, Pond and Price each put in 3 hits for the tigers. Good job everyone! The U10 Tigers would like to thank the following businesses for sponsoring Tiger shirts and hats: Richard McGivney of Richard McGivney and Son (Durham Bridge), and Mitch Bongard and Phyllis Vezina of Advanced Fabrics (Hanwell). Thank you very much! Coming up this week is plenty more exciting games to come out and watch! Tonight we’ve got the Men’s Tigers against the Hoyt Schooners at 6:30 in Taymouth! Don’t miss it! Look out for a post tomorrow with a lineup for next week’s games, or, like always, you can click here for ball schedules. Check each tab at the bottom for different teams. |
