We were blessed to have such a wonderfully warm and sunny day on Saturday. It was a smaller market but we did have a couple of new faces visiting which is always great to see. Instead of breakfast sandwiches the canteen was serving up a breakfast casserole which I am told was very tasty. As always, the coffee to accompany it was free. Such a nice touch and one that is appreciated by many, I am sure. Amy has got some amazing Halloween decorations on her table. These are hand painted and made from wood so they will last for years. Pumpkins, cats, ghosts, all of them look great and are perfect for hanging from a porch or deck. They are so reasonably priced too, you should really come and check them out! I haven't seen anything like them anywhere! Barb had made some Skor cake bars this week. I can confirm that these were just too good! I bought some to take home for my daughter as she wasn't able to come with me this week and of course I thought I should probably just sample one before I took them home. Well, they were just so good that I ended up buying more as I knew one plate wouldn't last long! So, thanks Barb, for the tasty treats and I won't mention the extra inch on my waistline!!! A big thank you to our wonderful musicians this week, Imelda Wilmot, Clinton Knodwell and Irvine O'Hara. You made the sun shine brighter with your wonderful tunes! Congratulations to Barb who won the Scarf and Hat set and bangle which were donated by Glitteratzzi. Congratulations to Sam McRae who won the market dollars. Just a week to go before our next market so don't forget to stop by and say 'hello'..............

Lots of dew and fog this Saturday but that didn’t prevent us from getting set up and ready to enjoy a beautiful summery September day at our outdoor market.
Our canteen volunteers were not available this weekend so Anne Canney baked rhubarb muffins, donut muffins and cinnamon bread to go with our free coffee and tea. Thanks so much Anne for doing all this on a busy Harvest Jazz & Blues weekend. Thank you to Isaac Gilbert who entertained us under the big market tent. It sounded wonderful Isaac and you are always welcome to come and join us again. Alida Moran donated a lovely autumn print table runner, two mug mats and two matching mugs. This wonderful prize was won by Amey Hickey. Congrats Amey! Another highlight of the day was drawing lucky number 42 from the bag of 100 numbers that would tell us who the lucky person is that won the $100.00 from the Market Lotto board. Congratulations to Ethel Wall. We are all so happy for you! We are happy to have Martha Ryan back with us with all her wonderful knitting including minions and sock monkey’s. Members of the Taymouth United Church joined us to sell their fundraising calendars for their 100 year anniversary celebrations coming up in 2018. The calendars contain many black and white photos of life in Taymouth in the last 100 years. We are so thrilled that so many people came out to say hello and enjoy the market with us. It was a really great turnout. Next market is September 23rd from 9:00 am to 12:30 pam. We are here every week now until December 9th. Well, last Saturday was once again an indoor market. Really hoping we will be able to get outside again before the colder weather comes.
It was the first of our weekly markets leading up to the Christmas season. It was great to see local vegetables being sold again. Don't you just love this time of year! Wonderful pulled chicken sandwiches were being sold in the canteen. The music was amazing yet again. There is so much talent in the community and it is so kind of these musicians, who take their time to share that talent with us each and every week. The market dollars were won this week by Linda Stewart. The raffle prize of a lovely cheeseboard kindly donated by Suellen Ross was won by Mae Bertt. Congratulations Ladies. So, please don't forget to join us again, this Saturday. Support your local community centre! |
