Wow, what a busy and bustling day we had. Along with our market this morning (Aug 8) the Taymouth Tigers were hosting the U14 Boys fastpitch/Softball Provincial Tournament at the Tigers home field. Ball players were arriving as we were setting up for market. It was a joy to see so much action taking place at the Taymouth Community Centre green space.
This busy day provided much happiness and joy for the market vendors when family's that came with their kids for the ball tournament came into the market area to check us out. It's such a thrill to share our fresh baking, crafts, knitting and all of our products to fresh eyes and ears! Susan and her daughter Maggie Young dished up delicious deep fried Curly Fries. So crispy and yummy with a bit of salt and ketchup. Steven and Cam cooked breakfast sandwiches at the TCA canteen table. These were delicious and they did an excellent job. Over by the ball field, the Taymouth Tigers set up a barbecue and cooked hotdogs, sausages and hamburgers all day as a fundraiser for a future team trip. The aroma floating around the market area was very enticing. Rhona O'Hara was serving a huge scoop of her delicious potato salad using grated onion and her Mother's (Jean Greene) home made mayonnaise recipe. She served this with fresh cut veggies and home made dipping sauce and delicious butterscotch square. Thank you to Dale Branscombe and Imelda Wilmot and Isaac Gilbert who are back entertaining us at market this week. Along with these fine folks, we had four young harmonica players who joined in. So cute. Dale had a big smile on his face so he enjoyed these kids immensely. Dale, Imelda and Isaac provided us with a few solos as well. We appreciate your generous donation of your time. Today's raffle was donated by Tara Savage from Highland Heights. Thanks Tara for the cute lunch bag with its own built-in ice pack plus a beautiful ceramic planter. Very nice. These items were won by Darlene Brown from Stanley. The $5.00 market voucher was won by Susan Curtis and the 50/50 was won by Liam Mitchell. Liam is one of the kids that joined the music circle today with his harmonica. He was very anxious before the ticket was drawn and we were all hoping he'd win. We cheered for him when he discovered the number on one of his many tickets he bought and the look on his face was priceless. We were all very happy for him. We have a new Market Lotto board starting up so drop by and get your lucky numbers picked out so you could possibly be the next winner and have an extra $100.00 in your pocket. Our next market is August 22nd from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. Hope to see you at the Taymouth Community Market.
